During your first session, we’ll walk through an assessment to get key information about your background, current situation, and what you hope to achieve through counseling. In other words, we want to meet you and get to know you.
Once we know more about you, we’ll work with you to set stress free goals for your sessions so we can stay on track. These goals may include managing anxiety or depression, improving relationships, or coping with grief.
Based on your counselor's specialization and your individual needs, we may use various therapeutic techniques in which we’ll teach you how they work and talk through exercises focused on your situation.
Expect to engage in open and honest conversations. Your counselor will listen actively and may ask questions to help you explore your thoughts and feelings more deeply.
As we move forward with your sessions, we’ll adjust the sessions and discuss how things are going, next steps, and so on.
You can trust that everything you share in our sessions is confidential. This complete privacy is the cornerstone of counseling, and not only is it something all counselors swear to, it’s a legally bound obligation.
In some cases, you may be assigned 'homework' or reflective exercises to work on between sessions. These activities can enhance your understanding and support your personal growth. Don’t worry! These aren’t graded and this is nothing like school.
At EXODUS, you can look forward to a personalized and professional approach that will help you navigate your situation, improve relationships with others and yourself, and more depending on your particular goals.
If you have any questions, concerns, or doubts, please feel free to contact us and we’ll be happy to clear them up for you.
